How to Draw a Cylinder, Easy lesson and Worksheet.

This free printable drawing worksheet is an easy drawing lesson that includes insight to the beginning of perspective. I made this as a handout for my students. Parents teachers and homeschool families will find it helpful in class and at home.

Just highlight the worksheet below and send it to your printer or save for later. Some printers work better if you drag the image to the desktop and print from there. If you have problems see the how to print tab above or one of the links below.

FIRST, A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT; If your drawings do not turn out the way you want do not give up learning to draw takes practice so draw every day and soon you will be making beautiful pictures. Come back often and try a few projects for ideas.

PRINTABLE NOTES

If you look at a cylinder from the center side view it will look like a rectangle.

If you look at a cylinder from straight above it will look like a circle.

If you look at a cylinder at an angle you see both the top and the side at the same time; now the top appears as an oval and the side is no longer a rectangle.

To draw the cylinder start with a rectangle, add an oval across the top, make sure it is level on both sides.

Make a curve on the bottom this curve needs to have just the same amount of curve as the one on the top.

The oval of the top needs to be just as high on one side as it is on the other side.

Use shading to make it look round and three dimensional.
