How To Draw An Egret Bird, Free Worksheet

How to draw an egret bird drawing lesson and printable worksheet.

The free how to draw an egret bird worksheet below and the project notes below will help give the young artist some ideas for drawing this splendid bird.  It is an easy lesson and ideal for the beginner.  I designed it for a handout to give students in a homeschool class I was teaching.

PROJECT NOTES YOU MAY PRINT

BEGINNINGS
The body of the egret is a large oval with a smaller oval below it. Draw this first step lightly so you can erase it later. The neck is like a large letter "S," use two lines for this, so you have a back and a front. The head is like a long triangle beside an oval.

DEVELOP FORM
The large body oval is going to be the wing. There are some feathers at the bottom; draw them with curved lines. Erase the top line of the oval and darken the other parts. The belly is covered with long soft feathers; draw them as short, bent lines.  The front of the neck has some long soft feathers, so draw them as curved lines too,

DETAILS
The eye is a circle with a white dot in the middle. The beak has a line going across it to divide the top from the bottom. The back has some shadow, and a shadow goes down the center of the back where the two wings meet. The legs point a little backward at the knee.  It is easiest to hide his feet in the water or tall grass.  The far leg is darker since it is in shadow.
