BEGINNINGS:
Start with a framework. Draw a line for the top edge of the wing so the drawing will not go beyond the edge of the paper.

On the line for the wing draw a rough articulated stick figure to pose the pterodactyl. This is a circle for the chest, straight lines for the arms and legs with small circles for the knees elbows and shoulders. The head is three very skinny triangles.

Once the pose is correct and fits in the line of the wing then fill in the features of the body, use ovals and circles to place the muscles. Add a box area shape for the abdomen.

DEVELOP FORM
After you have the body filled out then erase the extra lines and go over the figure to darken the body some.

WING DETAILS
Each side of the wing is longer than the body. The wing connects by the knee. The hand has three fingers going up and one finger going out to the edge of the wing. Start the hands and the feet as straight lines with dots for the knuckles then trace around them to give them thickness.

HEAD DETAILS
The head has a long bony crest on the top, it is not straight so don't worry too much about it. The mouth is long and goes all the way to the eye. There is some lose wrinkles on the neck under the chin like a pelican. The eye is a circle inside a circle and a line inside that.

The body is dark and the wings are light.

I hope you create a masterpiece!
