Start by lightly drawing an articulated stick figure, that is an advanced stick figure with the elbows shoulders, hips, and knees.  You will be erasing later so lightly.

DEVELOPING FORM
After you have the pose just right then add the shape of the body over the stick figure skeleton. use long ovals for the muscles

The hands are like crooked squares.

The head is oval, use guidelines to keep things straight. The eyes are halfway down.

The feet are like a wedge-shaped triangle with wedge-shaped the heal.

CLOTHING
After you have the body figured out then draw the clothing around it.  Keep it simple.  Add a few pieces of armor like gloves or shoulder pads or a chest plate.

DETAILS
Draw the hair last.

Keep the face simple.  The eyes are like two sloping lines with dots below them. The mouth is a line with a little dash below for the shadow under the lower lip.  The nose is just a dash to show the shadow under it.

PRINTABLE PROJECT NOTES

BEGINNINGS
To get ideas, start by drawing shapes randomly on the page, like doodling; in the worksheet, I started with random circles; I admit I had a few ideas about one being the head and another being the body.

DEVELOPMENT
Just like doing connect the dots, start to organize the circles into legs and arms or other parts.

Add variety with contrasting shapes like triangles. I used triangles for a collar or armor-like thing.

For arms or legs start with a stick figure approach to get the position right then go around the stick figure arm to give it thickness and form.

FINISH
Go over the lines that you like and erase the rest. Add things like eye-stalk, ears, wings or sucker cups.

This pig is round, so start with a large oval for the body. DEVELOP FORM
     * The ears are like large triangles sticking out of the sides of the head near the top.
     * The eye is arched like a rainbow on the top. The bottom cheek pushes up on the eye since he is smiling so draw it like another arch but wider. The top arch should touch the bottom.
     * The eye is a circle inside these two arches with a white square off-center for the shiny spot.
     * The back legs are curved lines going down and forward then two lines coming forward. The  coming
     * The front legs are two lined going up and down but slightly bent outward for the elbows.

DETAILS

BEGINNINGS
To get the pose right, start with an articulated stick figure, one with joints for the knees and elbows.

FORM
Around the stick figure, fill out the body by outlining the arms and legs. save the clothing for last.

FACE
Keep the face simple.  She is looking over her shoulder so the chin almost touches the shoulder and the face is in a three-quarter view. Use guidelines for the eyes nose and mouth,
     * The eyes are halfway between the top of the head and the chin,
     * The nose is halfway between the eyes and the chin.
     * The mouth is halfway between the nose and the chin.
A little of the cheek on the far side of the nose will show.

CLOTHING
The clothing should wrap around the body and show some of the lines of the body; this gives her a sense of movement. The skirt goes all the way to the ground and hides her feet. There is a second skirt or apron around the waist.  If you want to draw feet then do not give her shoes.  Her blouse will be white, but she has a black vest over it.  A shawl or wrap will go over the shoulders or around the back. Give the skirt lots of folds or pleats.

DETAILS
Do the hair last with a lot of waves and curls; draw a hat or cloth over her head it could be a rectangle or triangle. The hand is like a square,  Give her a basket or shepherd's staff to hold that way the picture starts to tell a story.

I hope you draw a masterpiece!

PRINTABLE PROJECT NOTES

BEGINNING
Start by drawing lightly so you can erase later. Draw the bowl first as an oval with a broad "U" shape below it. Draw the apples as three or four round shapes in the bowl, and one outside the bowl for interest. These circles do not need to be perfect in fact if they are lopsided or narrower at on end it will be more realistic.

DEVELOP FORM
The bowl has an inside and outside edge on the lip so draw a second oval line inside the first oval line this makes the bowl look it has thick edges.

The apples have a stem that comes out of a dimple. Draw the stem with two lines starting a little below the top edge of the apple. The lines should curve slightly and end with a little circle that touches both lines. The apples have shiny areas so outline them before you start to do any shading.

SHADING
Use shading to give the apples and the bowl their roundness.

Sometimes it takes me hours, but I create these how to draw worksheets, but I do it so that I can give back because I believe that when you have been given a gift, it is so you can be a gift to others, and I hope these worksheets are a means of blessing to you.

PRINTABLE LESSON NOTES

BEGINNING
The body is shaped like a cone on its side. Draw it with a curved line for the chest, next a straight horizontal line at the bottom of the curve going back as far as the curve went high; this line should tilt down just slightly. Then draw a line from the top of the curve going down to the tip of the horizontal line.

Draw a circle for the head, but it is inside the top of the cone shape, not above it.

The tail feathers are two straight lines going down.

THE BEAK
The starting point for the beak begins at the top center of the cone shape where the head is.  From there, draw a long, slowly curving line from the head out past the back of the tail. The bottom of the beak starts just below the first line, even with the top of the head going almost straight back. If it curves a little, that is OK since some toucans have a little curve in the bottom. The line that divides the top from the bottom is nearer the bottom by two/thirds and curves downward at the end.

DEVELOPING FORM:
The wing is a curving line from below the chin all the way to the start of the tail.
The feet have two toes going forward and two going back. Start them out like stick figures, then draw around them to give them thickness. There are bumps at the joints.
The eye is high on the head and near the beak. It is a dark circle with a lighter circle around it.
The end of the tail is rounded.

COLORING:
The toucan is mostly black but does not color him black if you can help it use gray if you can, and then use a little black for the shadows and details.
The legs and feet are blue.
There is a white area on the chest like a baby's bib.
Some toucans have a white stripe at the beginning of the tail.
The bill is very colorful. Mostly green, but the tip is red. There is orange on the upper bill and green with some blue on the bottom. You cannot make a mistake because there are many different kinds of toucans, and they all have different colors on their beaks.

I hope you create a masterpiece!

CLICK HERE for a link to a file in photo format that may print better.

BEGINNINGS:
Use some basic shapes to work out the ideas. Our example is a beagle like a robot with short legs and a medium body. Use circles to get a rough peanut shape for the body, draw lightly since you will be erasing later. The head starts like a teardrop pointing sideways. Use a stick figure technique to get the legs positioned.

DEVELOPING THE DETAILS:
The body is boxier so go over the peanut shape with some straight lines. Go around the stick figure legs and make them wider. Add circles for nuts, bolts, and for hinges.

DEVELOPING THE HEAD:
Use an oval for the ears. Draw a rectangle for the nose and snout. Sketch a narrower rectangle for the lower jaw. Draw a window for the eyes it could be round or any shape you want.  Go around these basic shapes again to make them look more dog-like but not too much.

DETAILS
Add buttons and knobs and antenna.

SHADING:
Use shading technique to give the robot dog roundness and thickness. The legs and the far side are in shadow and so they are darker. Find some places to make dark for contrast.

How To Draw A Leaping Orca Killer Whale, Free Printable Worksheet.

How to draw an orca whale leaping drawing lesson and printable worksheet.

The free worksheet below is a fun and easy way to draw a popular picture.  I drew this as a handout in a class I was teaching to some young artists and they loved it. It breaks down the image into simple steps.

How to Draw An Orca Whale Leaping, Free Printable Worksheet

Sometimes it takes me hours but I create these how to draw worksheets but I do it so that I can give back because I believe that when you have been given a gift it is so you can be a gift to others, and I hope these worksheets are a means of blessing to you. You are welcome to print as many as you like.

Here is another orca worksheet you might like. CLICK HERE.

To print the free worksheet just highlight it and send it to your printer or save to your device to print later. If you have problems printing see the how to print tab above for suggestions, or try the updated link below

CLICK HERE for a link to a file in photo format that may print better.

BEGINNING
Draw lightly at first so you can erase later. Start with the horizon, where the sky meets the sea. Draw a horizontal line. You could scribble in some lines for the hills if you want it to look like the orca is in a bay.

BASIC SHAPE
Draw a curved line for the back of the orca. The bottom of the line will be at the water and a little below the horizon line you drew before, the curve will be more rounded at the head.

The bottom line is not really curved but is made up of three lines that are almost straight. One for the tail to the waist, the second is from the waist going to the neck or jaw, and the third is from the jaw to the tip

FINS.
There are more than one kind of orca and they have the back fin in different places some are in the middle and some are more forward. The Orca fin is like a triangle but narrow, draw it with two curving lines curving backward. The two front fins are large ovals.

WATER
The splash is a lot of lines that curl back and forth. There are layers of splash inside layers. To make the splash look white and foamy make the water dark. The water is darker in the foreground near the bottom and lighter at the top near the horizon. The mountains can be any way you want

COLORING
The orca is black but don' start with black if you have gray do it all in gray first then do the darkest areas in black and leave some gray so it has a rounded look. There is white behind the ear, under the chin, and under the belly.
