LESSON NOTES YOU MAY PRINT

BEGINNING
Start with three large circles, you can do more or less as you want. Just get them in place in the center of your picture, have them overlap a little to be interesting. In the middle, draw three tiny circles close together.

DEVELOPMENT
The flower has five petals. Start with the bottom one, it is shaped like a bushy beard on an old man or a triangle that is roundish. Next, draw the ones on each side they are like elephant ears. Last draw the two on the top, the top left is first and the top right is last it is behind everything.

LEAVES
The leaves are like triangles with bumpy sides. Start with a line down the middle and then draw the sides. Draw them behind the flowers.

DETAILS
The flower petals have jagged edges. There are veins or wrinkles that go through the petals. They have a dark spot on the lower three petals, use shading techniques to show this. Do not worry about making it perfect it is the randomness that makes the flower interesting.

The pot is just two lines going down to a level point and a curving line that connects them. Add shadow around the sides and below the flowers.

OVERVIEW
This Viking face is a man's face with a short beard. He is wearing a helmet that has a slight point and nose piece.

Every head has a different shape but this one is hidden by the helmet and the beard so it is almost impossible to make mistakes.

BEGINNINGS
Draw a large oval for the head. Use guidelines to keep things even. Place a guideline straight up and down for the center. Draw a guideline halfway down across the face for the eyes. Place a guideline halfway between the eyes and the chin for the nose and one halfway from there to the chin for the mouth.

ADDING FEATURES
The eyes are on the guideline halfway down. The tops are like arches drawn with straight lines; first up, then over, then across. The lower eyelid is almost straight across but just a little curved. Draw a shadow below. Draw a shiny spot before you do the iris or the pupil.

The nose is partially hidden by the helmet nose piece. Draw two lines like the parenthesis for the outer nostril shape and a line like a slight "V" between them.

The upper lip is hidden by the mustache, the lower lip is more of a shadow below going across.

HAIR AND BEARD
The hair is stringy. Do not try to draw every line, just get the shape. Not all Vikings had long hair, so this one has his hair- just collar length. The hair does not just go down but poofs out a little from under the helmet. Draw the bottom edge of the hair and the beard with a lot of short choppy lines. Then have a few long lines going all the way.

HELMET
Save the helmet for last. The helmet is not rounded but has a slight point. It is wider than the head. Draw an arch over the head but give it the slight point. There are metal straps going around it and over the top, draw them as double lines. Draw the nose piece with a rectangle. Add circles for the nails.

FINISHING TOUCHES
Give him some scars. Use shading to give the face a rounded look.

BEGINNINGS
Remember to draw lightly so you can erase later.
The head is an oval shape. The pose is the three-quarter view, (where she is turning slightly away) so draw a guideline slightly to the left to help keep things straight. Use guidelines halfway down, and going across the face to place the eyes. Halfway below that draw, another one for the nose and halfway to the chin draw another for the mouth. The hair starts out as three large ovals.

FACE
Keep things simple. Draw two arches for the upper eyelid and a slightly curved line for the lower eyelid. The nose is a line going down and curving a little inward at the bottom. The mouth is small. The eyebrows are a thin line.

HAIR
Outline the flowers and any other ornaments you want to put in the hair before drawing in the hair. There are two chopsticks poking out, there are three strings of paper bells hanging down, and a charm that looks like a comb on the right side. The hair starts high up on the forehead. Remember to leave areas to be highlights- it is good to outline them early on. Use long curving lines starting at the forehead and going up or out. There is a bun at the top and a bun at the side. The highlights will help it to look real.

DRESS
The dress wraps around the shoulders. Draw two or four lines going down from the shoulders like cloth wrapping across.

NOTE: There is much confusion about the Geisha as who they are and what they do. The geisha is an artist who performs songs, dance, music, and other art forms. They were to be living expressions of art and beauty

BASIC SHAPE
From the side view, the hand is like a long triangle, with a shorter triangle for the thumb.
Draw a rough outline using the basic triangle shapes of the hand and thumb- draw lightly so you can erase later.

UNDERSTAND THE HAND
Inside the rough outline of the hand, draw circles for the joints and knuckles and use lines as if they were the bones inside the hand. This helps to make the hand look real. Draw lightly; you will be erasing this later.

FILL THE AREAS
Between the joints draw large ovals for the muscles of the fingers and the thumb.

OUTLINE THE DETAILS
Outline around the ovals and circles. Draw one finger in front of the others by drawing the tip of another past it and drawing a line below the near finger for the one behind.

SHADING
Use shadows to show the roundness of the hand and fingers. Erase any extra lines last.

DESIGN STAGE
Lightly draw two or three circles to place the blossoms where you want them on the paper. Make them interesting and not in a row. At the center of each circle, draw a smaller circle. The cherry branch is mostly straight, so lightly sketch a line going across the blossoms for the branch behind the blossoms. Place two or three leaves behind the blossoms coming off of the branch.

DEVELOPING THE DESIGN
There are five petals on the blossom; use five lines to divide the circles into even sections. Inside each section, draw a teardrop-shaped petal. The petals should not touch each other.
The center of the flower is a circle of short fuzzy hairs; just draw short wavy lines in a row on the circle.
Draw little circles halfway between the ends of the blossoms and the center. Connect the circles to the center with a thin line.

BRANCH AND LEAVES
The branch has little bumps where new growth is happening; draw one or two little bumps on the branch. The leaves have a fold in the middle, draw it as a line, and then use a shadowing technique on one side of the line, so it looks like a fold. The branch is darker than the leaves.

How to Draw A Lop Eared Rabbit Free Worksheet by MrAdron.

BEGINNINGS
Start with a light pencil like a 2b and draw lightly so you can erase later. Build the shape using circles to compose the structure of the drawing. Draw a circle for the head and a larger circle for the body. Use a guideline down the middle to keep things even. At the bottom add two circles next to each other on each side of the guideline for the front feet. Place two oval-like circles for the rear feet, space these a little higher and leave a little space first two.

DEVELOPING FORM
The front legs are short curving lines that touch the paws on the outside edges and a short line in between the paws.

FACE
The face has big cheeks, draw these as two large circles on the lower half of the head. Use a guideline going across the face halfway down the head, the eyes are slightly above the guideline, and the nose is slightly below the guideline. The eyes are almond-shaped pointing downward. There is a little bulge of skin under the eye draw it simply as a line. The nose is a letter "Y" going down. The mouth is two small curving lines going upward in the middle. underneath

EARS
The ears are two long lines going down to a point and back up, give the ears a little curve for interest. You can make them as long as you want since some lop-eared rabbits have very long ears.

The paws are furry and the claws are hidden in the fur.

Erase the extra lines and the guidelines.

FUR
Take your time with, you might want to take a few breaks to do the fur. Use short lines and go over the lines that you drew for the form.

To make the shadows use the same short lines but go over the areas extra and build up the darkness of the fur.

The Chinese dragon has the eyes of an Ogre, the nose, and mane of a lion, the mouth of a donkey, the ear of a cow, and the antlers of a deer. Otherwise, there are no rules for drawing an excellent good Chinese dragon. The style is to fill in all empty spaces with scales, feathers, flames, and patterns.

BEGINNINGS and DESIGN
Start by drawing lightly with a pencil that you can erase later. The head is shaped like a circle with rectangles for the snout and jaw. Use circles for the nose and eyes. There is an ear, draw it as a large triangle pointing backward. There are antlers, they are wavy lines from the top behind the eye going up and touching at points.

REFINING
Make the lines flow so there are no straight lines. Use wavy lines to make the flame-like shapes for the mane, eyelashes, beard around the mouth, and anything else you want. Use triangles for teeth and fangs.

CLEAN UP
Erase extra lines and go over the good parts with a marker or darker pencil, or you may trace it onto a clean sheet of paper. Fill in the empty spaces with patterns.

The Chinese Dragon is thought to be a creature of mythology so you can make it any way you want since it is very unlikely that someone will come up to you and say, "no that is wrong," since they never saw one so how can they know.

This style of the dragon is drawn as a long serpentine creature with legs.

PROJECT NOTES

BEGINNING
Draw the body as two long twisty lines. Start at the head end and gradually taper the lines to a point at the tail. Make it twisty. Add a third line for the spinal ridge; this third line will cross over from one side to the other to show the dragon is twisting.

LEGS
Position the legs where ever you want. To help get them right start lightly draw them like stick figures. Remember the elbows of the front legs point back and the knees of the back legs point forward. Draw the paws like stick figures too. After you have the legs in the place you want them to then go around the lines to give the legs thickness and the roundness of muscle. Do the same with the claws.

SPINE
The spine has a ridge made of spikes, draw them like small triangles. Follow the third line you drew so the spine ridges cross over. They will face one way and then the other.

HEAD
The head can be the most fun. In our drawing, it is long and narrow. You can sketch it any way you want. Decorate the head with flames and spikes. There is a chin beard, a mane of fire, long flowing whiskers, and long feathery eyebrows.

TAIL
The tale has flowing feathers or flame, they can fan out or form a shape like a paddle.

Add details like scales, flames, smoke, circles and what every you like to make it truly your own.

OVERVIEW
This drawing of a hand with the thumbs up is seen from the back of the hand, which I think is the more natural view opposed to the palm view with the fingers curled in.

BEGINNINGS
The hand has a box shape, so start with a large square that is slightly tilted down. The thumb is a square with an oval at the top. The wrist is a triangle shape. Use a rectangle for the sleeve. The fingers are curled back so they are shorter due to perspective. Start the fingers with a rectangle on the edge of the square.

DEVELOPING FORM
Use a guideline for the knuckles and edge of the fingers. The guideline will curve from the top corner to the bottom corner of the square for the knuckles. The guideline for the fingers edge will start from the top corner of the rectangle to the bottom corner. Place ovals for the four knuckles on the guideline. Draw three lines for the fingers; the lines should go from the outside edge to between the knuckles. The ends of the fingers are the first joint and are slightly rounded

THE THUMB
The thumb curves back at the joint which is halfway up, so the lines curve around the outside of the thumb joint, and inward at the inside fold.

REFINING
Go over your drawing and give the outside edge a clean flowing look. Erase any extra lines.

FINISHING TOUCHES
Use shading technique to give the round appearance, and use shading to put in the veins and tendons. Add wrinkles around the thumb, knuckles, and joints,

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
It is good to understand the picture you are drawing so you can draw it correctly. We will draw this from looking straight onto the knuckles with a little of the back of the hand showing and the fingers to the first joint.

BEGINNING
The hand from this view is slightly rectangular so draw lightly a rectangle, (you will erase this later so draw lightly). Just for reference draw a curving line from the top corner to an eighth of the way back on the bottom line, this is for the finger joint edge. Draw another curving line starting on the top of the rectangle at about 1/3rd from the back edge this line curves back and then forward to touch the bottom line at about 1/3rd. This is a reference line for the knuckles. Use a line to placemark the thumb and two lines for the wrist and back of the hand.

DEVELOP FORM
Mark off three points for the lines between the fingers, once you are sure the marks are evenly spaced draw a line from the marks back they should all end evenly below the thumb.  Lightly draw circles for the four knuckles at the base of the fingers. Use an oval for the pad at the top of the thumb- the thumb is as tall as the distance from the top of the hand to the third knuckle. The outside edge of the fingers are joints, their shape are not flat nor round but they are angular and slightly rounded; draw this with three lines as if you were drawing a half circle with three straight lines.

REFINING THE DRAWING
Erase the extra lines. Go over the outside edge of the hand. The back of the hand is tilted down and is like a triangle. The bottom finger curves up from the wrist. There is a triangle fold of skin below the bottom finger's knuckle. The thumb looks like a stretched out peanut. There is a knuckle at the base of the thumb it looks like a bump on the top part of the back of the hand.

SHADING
The bottom of the wrist is all in shadow. There is a little shadow between each finger and around the edges. The inside edge of the thumb is in shadow. The ends of the fingers are slightly shaded. Use shadows to draw the knuckles on the back of the hand. They look like triangles of shadow
