This is a printable how-to-draw worksheet and lesson for how to draw a pagoda temple.

Here is a lesson that will be helpful for anyone in drawing an iconic scene and challenge them to push beyond their comfort level. The pagoda is one of the hardest worksheets I have done. PRINTABLE NOTES.

Start with a guideline down the center to help keep things even.

Use another guideline for the outside edges of the roofs. There will be four or five of them. Each roof is a different size, the bigger ones are below, and the smaller ones are above.

The higher roofs are seen from underneath so their undersides show more than, the lower roofs that are seen more on the edge, and less of the underside shows. This means the angle is different higher up and it is more diamond-shaped, while the lower roofs are more triangle-shaped.
Between the roofs are sidewalls, they are shaped like rectangles.

After you have a basic design, then give the roof beautiful curves. The top sweeps out and up. Under the roofs are supporting structures that make it look line a slight triangle upside down.

There are rounded shingles on the roof that are in rows.

Draw parallel lines horizontally for the railings around the sides.
Draw decorations on the top tower and the sides.

Shade one side more than the other and put shading underneath the roofs.

Add a background of trees by scribbling a few irregularly shaped lines for the tops of trees. Add a mountain with some light jagged lines. Put a garden in the foreground with a lot of small scribbled shapes and a few large rocks. Add a fence and a path leading up to the pagoda.'

PRINTABLE PROJECT NOTES

Start by drawing lightly so you can erase later.

COMPOSING THE FORM.
Use common shapes to sketch in the form. Use a half circle for the arched back, skinny triangles for the front legs, a half circle for the back leg upper part, rectangles for the back leg lower part, a circle for the head, and crooked rectangles for the chest and neck.

DEVELOPING THE FORM
Add in the far leg, it is a curved line in the front and a straight line in the back.
Add circles for the ears they are at the top side of the head.
The top of the head is sort of flat.
The feet are long with long finger-like claws.

FACE
The eyes are wide apart and are circles with black circles inside.
The nose is like a rounded triangle in the middle of the face.
The mouth is three curved lines, two go down from the nose and curve outward, the third is underneath touching the first two, and being down like a frown.
There are two dash-like marks on the front of the nose.

SHADING THE FUR
Use shading to give it roundness. Do not start with black but start with gray and use the black only for the very darkest areas like the far leg, the bottom edge of the tail, under the chin, and stripe across the chest.
As you shade use short lines going back in the direction of the fur. Take your time shading and it will look good.
Shade the body a light gray but leave the face pure white.
The bandit mask is black.

PRINTABLE NOTES

Start by drawing lightly so you can erase later on. 

Use a ruler or straight edge to draw the straight lines. Trace around a coin or small jar lid to make the circles for the wheels.

Use shapes like rectangles, triangles, and squares to build the basic shape. 

The view is at a slight angle so the front and the side are both visible. To make the effect correct be sure to put the tires on the far side a little ahead of the ones on the near side. 

Use a guideline for the ground so the wheels are on the same plain and not one higher than the other. The guideline will be part of the shadow later on.

The front of the fire engine slopes down, make sure that both sides have parallel lines and slope the same on both sides.

Use dark areas to give interest. Like the wheels hoses and shadows.

The wheels on the far side are slightly in front of the wheels on the near side. Perspective makes them look just slightly higher than the ones on the nearer side.

Draw around the lines on the ladder so they look like thick strong steel. Every line should have a second so the ladder is made of pairs of lines.

Add knobs and dials on the side control panel. Use rectangles to draw the shapes of the cabinets on the side.

Leave a little light on the far wheels to set them apart from the wheels on the near side.

Put a shadow underneath.

BEGINNINGS
Start by drawing lightly so you can erase later.
Use an articulated stick figure to get the pose right, an articulated stick figure has elbows and knees hips, and other joints.

After you have the pose right then go around the stick figure to give it the form of a body.

The hand only shows the thumb. Draw it as straight lines on the backside of the hand and thumb and curved lines on the palm side.

Keep the face simple. Use a guideline down the center to keep both sides of the face even. Use a guideline across the middle to know where to put the eyes.  She is looking down so just draw the eyes as curving lines The nose is only a line on one side and a shadow underneath. The mouth is a shadow for the upper lip and a shorter shadow under the lower lip. the neck connects at the back of the head by the ear.

THE DRESS
Draw the dress after you have the form of the body right.
The dress should be tight at the waist. The dress flows with the body and should look like it is turning with her so start with guidelines to show which way the dress is turning.

The ruffles are in three or more rows. Use guidelines first to plan where they are. Draw rounded zig-zag lines for the ruffles then. Starting at the top of each rounded curve draw short lines going up following the direction of the flow of the dress.

Use shading technique to give the dancer roundness. Put shadows under the ruffles.

If you color the picture remember the traditional Spanish dancer wears a red dress.

BEGINNINGS
Start with the main horizon. First, draw a jagged line for the top of the cliff.
Second, draw the line for the distant pool.
Third, draw the waterfall as long downward-flowing lines. Give a few humps where the water splashes over rocks.

DEVELOPING THE COMPOSITION
The waterfall flows over a cliff. Outline the sides of the cliff with ridges that flow down and inward. Use straight, jagged lines. Add boulders and rocks at the bottom near the water.

Add the texture of plants. Draw "m" shapes for the top edges of the bushes and "V" shapes for the bottom. The plants follow the direction of the cliffs, down and inward.

Add trees above the cliff. The bushes hang over the side of the cliff.

The edge of the water has boulders and boulders stick up from the water. Draw the boulders as rounded shapes like the letter "D" on its back.

Use thin lines going back and forth for the water. Put more lines lower near the front, so it is darker and fewer lines higher near the back edge, so it is lighter; this gives some contrast between the water and the cliffs.

TEXTURE
Keep adding the leaves going over and down the cliffs. Use a lot of scribbly lines and leaf-like shapes. Add more sharp jagged lines for the rough feel of the cliffs.

SHADING
The waterfall is light, and everything else is darker. Put shadow on the side of the rocks and under the plants, and under the trees.

Start by drawing lightly so you can erase later.

BEGINNING
Use an articulated stick figure to work out the pose. An articulated stick figure is one with the joints like elbows and knees.  You see in the example the left arm was drawn over since the first pose didn't seem right.
Don't just have him standing there give him some drama by a pose that shows action.
Note that the hand that is raised is palm forward, fingers over and coming down in front and thumb back.

One arm will be hidden by the shield but we draw it anyway so we will know where to put the shield so it looks right.

FATTEN HIM UP
Go around the stick figure to give the arms, legs, and torso some muscles. Use ovals to get the shape of the muscles.
The front of the leg is a straight line.
The knees and hands are boxy and straight lines.
The feet are like triangles.

Erase extra lines and develop the outline of the man.

CLOTHING.
Draw the clothes over the body. Take your time with the clothes. He has a long chainmail shirt over a tunic, he has wool pants, fur-lined boots, a helmet gloves belts, and a pouch.

DETAILS
Keep the face simple. The mustache covers the upper lip and the beard hides most of the face.
Draw the sword as a long line then draw two lines one on each side so it stays even. don't make it too fancy.
Use a lot of short lines going different directions for the fur in the boots and his cloak.
Use a lot of little 'Us' for the chain mail. This will take longer but will make it look good.

BEGINNINGS.
Start by drawing lightly so you can erase later.

Use common shapes to make a simple outline.
A circle for the head and a little ways below the circle draw a large teardrop. The teardrop should be at least three times the size of the circle.
Use a half circle for the muzzle.
Use two curved lines for the shoulders and arms to connect the head and the body.

DEVELOP FORM
Use curved lines for the arms and legs.
The top of the head is flat.
The ear is like a small circle at the back of the head.
The feet are outlined first as squares for size and shape.

REFINING THE PICTURE
Work over the lines, so they flow together smoothly since he is a fat little fella.

HEAD
Use a guideline to keep the eye, ear, and nose straight. They are in a line. The eye is a curved arch and a curved line below like an almond. The nose is like a "V," The mouth is like another "V" upside down.

HANDS AND FEET.
Lightly draw the bones first with circles and lines, then outline circles and lines to get the knotty shape of the joints on the toes and fingers. Don't forget the claws.

FUR
Maybe the fur is the most important part. Take your time and use short lines. The lines should go outward away from the center to the edges. Use more lines to make shadows and fewer to make the highlights.

BEGINNINGS
Remember, you are not drawing a mountain but a range of mountains. Some will be in the background behind others, and little hills will be low in the middle ground.

 Use short straight jagged lines to scribble shapes that are slightly triangular in shape. Keep them in different sizes and shapes.  One should be higher than the others it should be near the center if they are all the same height it would be boring.

Draw the middle ground hills as long wavy lines.  Draw the meadow in the foreground as a straight line.

DEVELOPING THE FORM.
Use short choppy jagged lines to work out the many cliffs and folds of the mountain.
Use shorter jagged lines to mark off the snow caps on the tops of the mountains. Do not just make them straight but give them an interesting shape.

SHADING AND TEXTURE
Decide which side the sun is on, and take your time to add the shadows on the opposite side of each mountain. Use dots, small scribble marks and short choppy lines to give the sides of the mountains some texture. The farthest mountains will be lighter and not have much texture.

The rolling hills have trees on top, and the meadow has a line of trees where they meet the hills. Draw these with short up and down scribbly marks.

Start by drawing lightly so you can erase later.

BEGINNING
Start by drawing an articulated stick figure, that is a stick figure that has the joints like wrist, elbows, knees.  Use a guideline so the foot and knee both touch the ground or else one will be higher than the other.
The head is an oval.

Take your time to make sure you get the pose right.

After the pose is made right, draw around the stick figure to fill out the body, use curved lines to show muscles.

DETAILS
The face is in profile start it as a curved line. Halfway down make a guideline for the eyes, below that, make two more for the nose and mouth. Use straight lines to give the face a rugged look. The eye is tilted down and only a little part of the pupil shows under the upper eyelid to make him look like he is looking up.

The hand has the thumb on top and four fingers wrapped around the sword. The back of the hand is slightly curved, the fingers are not the same length. The fingertips are slightly square.

ARMOR
Draw the armor around the body. The elbows and knees are a series of triangles. The shield looks like an upside-down teardrop. Use a ruler to keep the lines of the sword straight. Practice the dragon on a separate piece of paper and trace it onto the shield.

Finish the story. He could be pledging his sword to God, or king, or a beautiful maiden. Work out the story on another piece of paper and then trace in into the picture.

How to draw a mission bell updated worksheet.

It takes me a long time to create these worksheets for you, but I am glad to do it.

PROJECT NOTES.

BEGINNING

Start by drawing a large circle for the top of the bell and an oval horizontally underneath. Add a few lines to connect the two to make the basic shape of the bell. Don't forget the clapper- the circle inside the oval.
Draw a larger circle for the arch of the bell wall and crossbar for the bell to hang from; a few short choppy lines will give the bar a rough wood look, don't forget the shadow underneath. 

After getting the bell and arch established, take a moment and look things over to make sure it is even and square.

DEVELOPING FORM
Make the stone wall by first drawing very lightly some horizontal lines to serve as a "grid" for the stones to be drawn in. Make sure the light reference lines are straight. Draw each stone slowly and carefully. Leave spaces between the stones; this will look like the mortar holding them together.

DETAILS Make a shadow under the bottom of each stone; this will make them look three-dimensional.
Shadow in the areas that need it, such as the inside of the bell, and use a gradual deepening shadow to make the bell look round.

If you are working with color, I suggest the stone can be some pale red and orange.  Make the sky beyond the bell a pale blue and the bell itself green.  Erase any leftover marks.
