How to Draw a Pirate Ship. Easy Worksheet

This is a how-to-draw pirate ship worksheet for the beginner artist.

This is an easy ship to draw and perfect for the young or beginner artist. Since pirates used whatever ship they could get their hands on there really was not a special kind of pirate ship that they all had to look like. So, don't get upset if yours don't look just like you want it to there might have been one just like the one you made.

A WORD ABOUT PRINTING
This free printable drawing worksheet may be downloaded to your device and printed easily. if you have any trouble then CLICK HERE to visit my how-to-print page for some suggestions. Remember to use the greyscale setting so you get the shadows in the illustration.

BEGINNINGS
Draw the horizon first. The horizon is where the sky meets the ocean. I draw it first so the horizon is level all the way across the picture. If you goof it up just draw an island in the background but wait for the end for any changes like that.

The outline of the little pirate ship starts out to look like a shoe. The front is a curved line, then draw a second parallel line/ there are two since this is a big piece of wood on the old ships. The back of the ship is a line going mostly up and down but tilted back a little at the top. The bottom and top of the boat is a straight horizontal.

DETAILS
The masts are about as high as the body is long. My example has only two but you can have one or four if you like. I thought it looked better to keep it simple. The mast tilt back slightly. Draw them lightly so if you have to erase over some of them to draw the sails it will be easy. Don't forget the mast that sticks out at the front.

SAILS
The sails are basic shapes of square and triangles but slightly curved, they do not need to be perfect since in real life sails flap around in the wind.

EXTRAS
If you are happy with the basic design then go over it and erase any extra lines that needs to be cleaned up.
Add details like cannon holes, ropes, rudder, anchor, port holes, box like places where stuff would be kept, and maybe a pirate or two.
The waves far away, near the horizon line, are smaller and the waves in the foreground toward the bottom are larger.

FINISHING
Go over your drawing in a darker pencil or color pencils or markers.
If you take your time it will look good.

How to Draw an Eagle Face Lesson and Worksheet

I am delighted to share my free printable drawing worksheet for How To Draw An Eagle Face.

Here is a lesson for the young artist and a worksheet.

Print the worksheet, highlight it, send it to your printer, or save it to your device to print later. If you have problems printing, visit the HOW TO PRINT tab above for suggestions.

Eagles are beautiful and awesome creatures. You might feel the first effort to draw one is not successful. I recommend you make a few practice sketches; this is what professional artists do all the time. After you have worked out some of the hard parts, then try to do a serious project.

How to draw an eagle looking at you. Worksheet.

I am glad to create these worksheets for you, and I hope you enjoy them. You are welcome to print as many of my How-to-draw worksheets as you need.

The basic head shape is a circle.

Draw the top of the beak as a line. It starts a little above halfway; draw it out and down.
The bottom of the beak is not a straight line but jagged.

The eye is a circle cut off at the top by the eyebrow.
The eyebrow tilts down at both ends.

After you get the basic shape, modify the back of the head by extending the line out and down.
Draw a circle for the shoulder under the beak.

The eye has a black center, and a shiny spot in the middle makes it a square, and be careful not to color over it.

The feathers on the body are slightly rounded at the tip.
The feathers on the shoulder are shorter and more rounded.

Color the feathers grey and use only a little black for the details.
The beak and the eye are yellow.
Add a little blue for the shadows on the white feathers.

To make the head look really white, add a little color to the background behind it.  Sometimes you can do this by rubbing a little tissue over the pencil and smearing it around a soft grey look that makes the white look whiter.

Robins are fun and easy to draw. The differences between a robin and many others birds are so slight that if you can draw one, you can easily draw almost any bird.

Start with the basic shape. Think of the body of a robin as a teardrop shape sideways. Draw it as a circle for the chest and one on top and a little forward.

The trail starts as a long triangle that is about half as long as the body.

The line for the front of the bird is a sweeping graceful curve; draw it over the front part of the circle and down to the tail. The line for the back is almost straight.

The beak is a long triangle, the back of the beak is another triangle pointing to the bottom of the eye.

The wing starts as a smaller circle on the shoulder. Draw a line down the front of the wing circle and then back to the tail.

The tail has two feathers.

The legs start as triangles at the bottom of the bird; they are more toward the back. The legs are two straight lines; the feet are three lines forward and slightly curved downward, and one line back curved downward slightly.

When you finish the basic drawing, add the eye.
  • The robin has a black eye with white above and below it.
  • There are two or three white throat stripes.
  • The head is black.
  • The wings and tail are greys.
  • The chest is red but not a ruby red more of an orange-red combination. The red of the chest goes to the legs.
  • Behind the legs is a white area.
Take your time, and you will have a drawing you can be proud of.

Raccoons are fun to draw and it is not that hard to draw the face of one.  Start by drawing lightly since you will want to erase some of the extra lines and the guidelines later.

Start with a medium-large circle in the middle of your paper.
Draw a vertical guideline down the center so you have evenness on both sides.

Draw a guideline across the lower third this will be to place the eyes later.

Draw two smaller round circles to start the ears.

Draw a medium-sized circle for the muzzle at the bottom of the first big circle. Now you have a rough outline to build up your portrait.

Draw the eyes as two circles on the top of the horizontal guideline. Remember the shiny spots, draw little squares in the eyes, and don't color them leave them white.  There is a thick eyelid draw it as a line halfway around the bottom half of the eyes.

The nose is a teardrop shape but it has a shiny spot across the top so draw it in to remember to not color over it.

The mask is almost straight across the top but tilts down a little. Every raccoon has a mask that is a little different so if yours doesn't look perfect don't worry somewhere there is a raccoon with a mask like the one you drew.

The fur is the part that takes most of the work. So take your time. Draw the fur as many short lines where the pencil or pen goes up and out. As you draw the fur lift the pencil or pen up as your draw. The fur has a direction it goes out away from the center, so at the top, it goes up at the sides it goes out.
Take your time. Take a few breaks and stand up and stretch. When you are done you will have a drawing you will be proud of.

How to Draw A Dolphin Drawing Lesson For Young Artist.

This free printable drawing worksheet is an easy lesson that uses a few simple lines to draw a dolphin and young artist are quick to master this project.

The worksheet below may be printed by highlighting it and sending it to your printer or saving to you device to print later.

How to draw a Dolphin worksheet.

Once you master the basic shape you can have them doing all kinds of things in your pictures. Drawing the dolphin is all about graceful lines. Take your time and make the lines flow like water.

Start with a simple arch like a rainbow.  The back of the arch near the tail is bent more than the front near the nose.

Draw the line for the bottom.  It will be an arch too, but straighter for the first 2/3rd of the way.

Lightly draw a triangle for the top fin.  Make it near the center. There are different types of dolphins and some have the fin more forward and other's have the fin more back, so don't worry if it is not perfect.

Draw the triangle for the lower fin.

Draw a triangle for the back flipper; it is like a flattened triangle.

Go over your lines with a darker pencil or marker, make the lines flow.

The nose is rounded.  The mouth goes almost all the way to the eye.

The eye is a round shadow with a line through it.
