BEGINNINGS
To get the pose right, start with an articulated stick figure, one with joints for the knees and elbows.

FORM
Around the stick figure, fill out the body by outlining the arms and legs. save the clothing for last.

FACE
Keep the face simple.  She is looking over her shoulder so the chin almost touches the shoulder and the face is in a three-quarter view. Use guidelines for the eyes nose and mouth,
     * The eyes are halfway between the top of the head and the chin,
     * The nose is halfway between the eyes and the chin.
     * The mouth is halfway between the nose and the chin.
A little of the cheek on the far side of the nose will show.

CLOTHING
The clothing should wrap around the body and show some of the lines of the body; this gives her a sense of movement. The skirt goes all the way to the ground and hides her feet. There is a second skirt or apron around the waist.  If you want to draw feet then do not give her shoes.  Her blouse will be white, but she has a black vest over it.  A shawl or wrap will go over the shoulders or around the back. Give the skirt lots of folds or pleats.

DETAILS
Do the hair last with a lot of waves and curls; draw a hat or cloth over her head it could be a rectangle or triangle. The hand is like a square,  Give her a basket or shepherd's staff to hold that way the picture starts to tell a story.

I hope you draw a masterpiece!

CLICK HERE to print using a universal portable file (PDF).

PRINTABLE PROJECT NOTES

BEGINNING
Start by drawing lightly so you can erase later. Draw the bowl first as an oval with a broad "U" shape below it. Draw the apples as three or four round shapes in the bowl, and one outside the bowl for interest. These circles do not need to be perfect in fact if they are lopsided or narrower at on end it will be more realistic.

DEVELOP FORM
The bowl has an inside and outside edge on the lip so draw a second oval line inside the first oval line this makes the bowl look it has thick edges.

The apples have a stem that comes out of a dimple. Draw the stem with two lines starting a little below the top edge of the apple. The lines should curve slightly and end with a little circle that touches both lines. The apples have shiny areas so outline them before you start to do any shading.

SHADING
Use shading to give the apples and the bowl their roundness.

Sometimes it takes me hours, but I create these how to draw worksheets, but I do it so that I can give back because I believe that when you have been given a gift, it is so you can be a gift to others, and I hope these worksheets are a means of blessing to you.

PRINTABLE LESSON NOTES

BEGINNING
The body is shaped like a cone on its side. Draw it with a curved line for the chest, next a straight horizontal line at the bottom of the curve going back as far as the curve went high; this line should tilt down just slightly. Then draw a line from the top of the curve going down to the tip of the horizontal line.

Draw a circle for the head, but it is inside the top of the cone shape, not above it.

The tail feathers are two straight lines going down.

THE BEAK
The starting point for the beak begins at the top center of the cone shape where the head is.  From there, draw a long, slowly curving line from the head out past the back of the tail. The bottom of the beak starts just below the first line, even with the top of the head going almost straight back. If it curves a little, that is OK since some toucans have a little curve in the bottom. The line that divides the top from the bottom is nearer the bottom by two/thirds and curves downward at the end.

DEVELOPING FORM:
The wing is a curving line from below the chin all the way to the start of the tail.
The feet have two toes going forward and two going back. Start them out like stick figures, then draw around them to give them thickness. There are bumps at the joints.
The eye is high on the head and near the beak. It is a dark circle with a lighter circle around it.
The end of the tail is rounded.

COLORING:
The toucan is mostly black but does not color him black if you can help it use gray if you can, and then use a little black for the shadows and details.
The legs and feet are blue.
There is a white area on the chest like a baby's bib.
Some toucans have a white stripe at the beginning of the tail.
The bill is very colorful. Mostly green, but the tip is red. There is orange on the upper bill and green with some blue on the bottom. You cannot make a mistake because there are many different kinds of toucans, and they all have different colors on their beaks.

I hope you create a masterpiece!

BEGINNINGS:
Use some basic shapes to work out the ideas. Our example is a beagle like a robot with short legs and a medium body. Use circles to get a rough peanut shape for the body, draw lightly since you will be erasing later. The head starts like a teardrop pointing sideways. Use a stick figure technique to get the legs positioned.

DEVELOPING THE DETAILS:
The body is boxier so go over the peanut shape with some straight lines. Go around the stick figure legs and make them wider. Add circles for nuts, bolts, and for hinges.

DEVELOPING THE HEAD:
Use an oval for the ears. Draw a rectangle for the nose and snout. Sketch a narrower rectangle for the lower jaw. Draw a window for the eyes it could be round or any shape you want.  Go around these basic shapes again to make them look more dog-like but not too much.

DETAILS
Add buttons and knobs and antenna.

SHADING:
Use shading technique to give the robot dog roundness and thickness. The legs and the far side are in shadow and so they are darker. Find some places to make dark for contrast.

How To Draw A Leaping Orca Killer Whale, Free Printable Worksheet.

How to draw an orca whale leaping drawing lesson and printable worksheet.

The free worksheet below is a fun and easy way to draw a popular picture.  I drew this as a handout in a class I was teaching to some young artists and they loved it. It breaks down the image into simple steps.

How to Draw An Orca Whale Leaping, Free Printable Worksheet

Sometimes it takes me hours but I create these how to draw worksheets but I do it so that I can give back because I believe that when you have been given a gift it is so you can be a gift to others, and I hope these worksheets are a means of blessing to you. CLICK HERE for a link to a file in photo format that may print better.

BEGINNING
Draw lightly at first so you can erase later. Start with the horizon, where the sky meets the sea. Draw a horizontal line. You could scribble in some lines for the hills if you want it to look like the orca is in a bay.

BASIC SHAPE
Draw a curved line for the back of the orca. The bottom of the line will be at the water and a little below the horizon line you drew before, the curve will be more rounded at the head.

The bottom line is not really curved but is made up of three lines that are almost straight. One for the tail to the waist, the second is from the waist going to the neck or jaw, and the third is from the jaw to the tip

FINS.
There are more than one kind of orca and they have the back fin in different places some are in the middle and some are more forward. The Orca fin is like a triangle but narrow, draw it with two curving lines curving backward. The two front fins are large ovals.

WATER
The splash is a lot of lines that curl back and forth. There are layers of splash inside layers. To make the splash look white and foamy make the water dark. The water is darker in the foreground near the bottom and lighter at the top near the horizon. The mountains can be any way you want

COLORING
The orca is black but don' start with black if you have gray do it all in gray first then do the darkest areas in black and leave some gray so it has a rounded look. There is white behind the ear, under the chin, and under the belly.

PROJECT NOTES

BEGINNINGS:
Draw lightly at first so you can erase later. Start by using basic shapes to develop the composition of the picture. Use a big circle for the body and a smaller one for the head. The feet are ovals that are pointed up and out.

Use guidelines on the head like a cross so that things will stay even

Draw circles for the ears and two looping lines for the arms.

DRAWING TEDDY'S FACE
On the horizontal guideline draw two circles for the eyes, inside the circles draw little squares for the shiny spot in the eyes. Fill in the eyes but leave the squares white for the shine. Draw the muzzle as a circle placed evenly on the vertical guideline. The nose is an oval on the muzzle on the upper half of the muzzle. The smile is like the letter "U."

BEAR FEET:
Draw a large circle on the bottom half of the ovals that make the feet. Draw three smaller circles for the pads under the toes. These will be colored in darkly but the foot around them will be white. He has little legs but all you do is draw two short lines from the bottom and top of the feet inward toward the body these four lines will slightly slope toward each other like they were going to make an "X" but stop about halfway.

CLOTHING:
If you want to dress your teddy with a bow tie or a hat or something do it before you start on the fur.

FUR
EXPECT TO TAKE A LONG TIME ON THE FUR! If you hurry it will look sloppy and like you gave up. The easiest way to do fur is to make the lines around the edges zig-zag. If you want to fill the fur in start at the edges and make lots and lots of very short lines going in and out a the edge.  As you work from the outer edges inward make the lines a little longer. Don't cover every bit with fur but leave some blank areas that will look like highlights.

How to draw an arched door drawing lesson and printable worksheet.

The drawing worksheet below will help the young artist gain confidence in drawing. This one can look very nice in color.

This arch door might be found in an old castle or an old house in Europe.

There are many different ways to approach a project like this. I offer this worksheet as one method to draw an arched door. I have kept it simple on purpose for the young artist but it could be a beginning point for someone with more advanced skills.

PRINTABLE LESSON NOTES

BEGINNING
Start simple. If you have some round object trace around it to draw the top of the arch of the door. Use straight lines to draw the rectangle of the door sides and the bottom.

DEVELOPING FORM
Draw a second line around what has been drawn so far so it is an outline, but give it room to draw the bricks of the wall in. Divide this space with lines to mark off where the bricks will be. Outline the areas so they look like bricks with mortar between. them.

Draw a line down the middle to make the two doors.

Draw a line across the top for the top of the door.

Use guidelines to create rows for the bricks in the wall then divide the lines for the bricks. Outline the bricks and erase the guidelines.

Use texture to give the door a weathered wood grain look.

Use guidelines to place the hinges on each side so they are parallel with the hinge on the other side.

These hinges are wrought iron so draw them black and give them curves.

Use guidelines to make the flagstones even and outline the flagstones on the floor.

This is a simple project for a young artist. The face is a teenager in three-quarter view and turned upward slightly, the eyes are looking heavenward. I drew this for my own art students as something to give them at the end of a class so they can do it at home, or as something for when there is extra time in class.

Be sure to see the project notes below.

There is more than one way to draw a face, so I have kept this project simple for the young artist. Drawing a good face takes practice, so don't give up. Draw a person every day, and soon you will be good at it. I have other projects like this, so come back often and try some more.

PRINTABLE NOTES

BEGINNINGS
Start with a basic shape of the head without the hair, it looks like an egg with a narrow point for the chin. Use guidelines to help keep things straight. One will go down the face but a little to the left side. Draw another guideline for the eyes, this will be halfway from the top of the head to the chin. Draw another guideline halfway from the eyes to the chin for the nose, and a last halfway from the nose to the chin for the mouth.

DEVELOP FORM
The face is turNED three-quarter view so the left side shows the brow, the cheek the curve of the upper jaw, and the lower jaw. These are lines that start at the hairline first going outward a little for the eyebrow, then inward slightly for the eye socket, then out a little farther than the eyebrow for the cheekbone, then in and down with a bump for the upper jaw and teeth, last it curves down under the chin and curves up to the right jaw hinge just under the right ear.

DETAILS
The eyes are looking up so draw the top of the eye like an arch or a rainbow. The bottom is straight with a slight curve up. Use some small coins to trace around for the iris of the eye so they both match. The pupal of the eye is far up and only a little of it is showing.

The nose is a curving line like a backward "S" but keep it thin. The bottom of the nose is turned up, but don't draw it use the shading technique for it.

The mouth is far to the left since the face is turned away. The top lip is thin and mostly in shadow so use shading technique to draw it. The bottom lip is two ovals in the middle and then stretched out at the ends.  Do not make both sides of the mouth equal since the face is turned away, so the left side is smaller and the right side is longer. the mouth almost touches the far edge of the face. Perspective does all this.

The eyebrows are simple and straight.

Draw the hair last, it is short almost boy-like. The armor has straps at the top and pieces that fold over on the shoulder, draw rectangles and triangles for these. She was often shown with a wooden cross around her neck or a banner.

BEGINNING:
Use basic shapes to form a simple dog head. Start with a large circle. Add two triangles at the top for the ears. Draw a rectangle for the muzzle. If you make it long he looks older if it is short he looks younger.

DEVELOPMENT
     * The eyes are like a diamond sideways.
     * The mouth is low on the muzzle, draw a line across but curving up at the outside edge.
     * The nose is a triangle at the top of the muzzle,
     * The upper lip curves up draw a line going up for it.
     * The neck and shoulders are broad, use two lines; one starting at the ear and going out and down and the other halfway across the bottom of the muzzle going down and slightly out.

DETAILS
The eye is edged in black. The ears are slightly rounded. There are four rows of freckles. The lip is black.

FIR
Take your time with the fur so it looks good. As you draw the fur use strokes with your pencil going the direction of the fur, the direction fur goes is out away from the center.
     * The top of the head is dark
     * There is a line of dark down between the eyes.
     * The ears are edged in dark.
     * There is a band of dark circling the face starting behind the earn and ending below the cheek.
     * On the opposite side of the face is another under the chin but it is short.
     * There is a second band going down the back edge and curving in at the bottom. (but it is not as dark)

How to draw a peacock feather drawing lesson and printable worksheet.

Parents, teachers, and home-school families will find many ways to use this project. It can be given out as an extra activity in class or sent home to do on the student's own time. It is designed to give the young artist confidence in drawing a popular subject.

There is more than one way to draw a picture like this. I have kept it simple on purpose for the benefit of the young artist.

The trick to drawing good pictures is to practice. So draw every day. If it doesn't come out perfect, do not give up but keep at it, and soon, you will be making beautiful drawings.

Good luck.

If you have problems, see the how-to print tab above for some tips, or try the links below for alternate formats of this image.

How To Draw A Peacock Feather by MrAdron.

I am glad to share these how-to-draw worksheets for free, and I hope they are useful for you.

Below is a link that may print better on some devices.

Some printers work better with PDF format. To print in PDF, CLICK HERE.

BEGINNINGS
Start by drawing lightly so you can erase later on. The feather has a shaft (called a rachis); draw this with a graceful curve. The top is the beautiful part. Draw a large teardrop on top of the shaft. Draw a larger circle around the teardrop, do this lightly; it is just a guideline that you will erase later. On both sides of the shaft, lightly draw a guideline to keep the end of the veins the same length.

DEVELOP FORM
The top has four rings. The first is the green one; it is on the outer edge of the teardrop; draw it as a second line inside the teardrop shape. The next ring is brownish; draw it as a small inner ring that almost touches the bottom of the teardrop shape. The light blue is; next, it is inside the brown ring and has an upside-down heart inside. The innermost ring is the purple upside-down heart.

The shaft is thick; draw it as two lines on each side of the first guideline drawn earlier.
The barbs come out of the sides of the shaft. Draw them slowly and carefully; do not let them go past the second set of guidelines. Draw them in pairs on each side of the shaft. Use two lines for each barb, so you have a top and a bottom.
Have some of the barbs pass in front or behind others. Some will go in random directions, but all generally go upward.
The barbs at the top clump together. Outline them first, then draw in the individual barbs. Leave a few spaces between some of the barbs.

FINISHING
Color the feather green except for the eye. It is purple inside, then light blue, then brown, then green.
